25 Best Dutch Bros Coffee Drinks: Freezes, Frosts, And More Ranked
Brands of chain coffee shops such as Starbucks and Caribou Coffee will likely be what are on your mind when you think of a chain coffee shop if you’re on the East Coast. If, however, you are lucky enough to reside on the West Coast, you have another option in mind: Dutch Bros.
It admittedly hasn’t been on the scene very long, but the company was started in 1992. However, those who adore it will tell you that it is the best chain coffee shop around. The hype was so strong that we wanted to take a closer look at the chain’s menu and find out what was worth trying and what was better to leave in the dust. For that reason, we decided to research some of the most popular items on the Dutch Bros menu and put together a ranking of some of the most popular items on the Dutch Bros menu.
Though not all of the company’s items are listed here, it will still provide you with a basic idea of what to order the next time you’re there. So we will go from the worst to our favorites.
Ninja Dutch Frost
Dutch Bros is not a typical coffee shop. Yes, it has a lot of typical drinks to find at a java joint, but it also has products you tend to not one see at your local Starbucks. One of those products? The Dutch Frost. This is the company’s version of a classic milkshake.
The Dutch Frost is available in various flavors, but the worst of the worst is the Ninja Dutch Frost. Creme de menthe and white chocolate should be combined, this menu item is a no brainer. Overall, this is very cloyingly sweet white chocolate that might even give you a toothache from sipping on it.
However, in our books, it is an abomination to have a mint flavored dessert in which there is no actual chocolate involved. Frankly speaking, it is a horrible combination of flavors, and we wish that we had never taken a sip in the first place. We take our word for it: If there is any menu item you are going to avoid at Dutch Bros, it is this one.
Peach Dutch Bros Rebel Energy Drink
If you need some energy but are not in the mood to drink coffee,. It is a totally legit feeling and it’s the reason that Dutch Bros decided to release their line of Dutch Bros Rebel energy drinks. Refined away, but hopefully in sufficient quantity to provide caffeine to power the day, they will taste more like juice than coffee.
Sounds great, right? In theory, yes. In practice … however, we feel there are better energy drinks than this, when it comes to the peach Dutch Bros Rebel energy drink, for example. You know peach flavoring. With this energy drink, it is often so artificial tasting that nobody in their right mind would think of an actual peach after taking a sip, and that is exactly what is happening here.
And it’s also too sweet, and most of the people who are consuming a lot of caffeine really don’t want more sugar at that point. Overall, this is just way too aggressive in taste, and the only thing we could enjoy more than a few sips of is getting sick of it. Instead choose one of the other Dutch Bros Rebel flavors and they will have it for you when ordering.
Cotton Candy Dutch Frost
Unfortunately for the Dutch Frost, another of its ranks has found a way onto the worst items on the menu. This time it is the Cotton Candy Dutch Frost. This dessert is not only sweet but it sounds overly sweet right off the bat. It’s understandable what adult actually likes cotton candy?
It cannot be anything more than sugar with some dye and flavoring added. However when you realize what exactly is going on in this drink, you really want to down it even less. This has the flavor of blue raspberry and white chocolate.
Yes, you heard that right. It was actually thought that these two wildly disparate flavors would work well together. What they are is totally incongruent and the taste is sugary and overpowering that you will want to get out of your mouth as soon as you take the first sip. Almost certain that the first tooth aching sip won’t turn you off if the unnatural color doesn’t. Our advice? It is something you would be wise to pass up.
Electric Berry Dutch Bros Rebel Energy Drink
You’ll notice, however, that we’re pretty turned off by the Dutch Bros Rebel energy drinks, thus explaining the poor ranking on the Electric Berry flavor as well. When you order this drink, what you see first is the overly bright color.
It comes out in a blindingly green hue which, while less Mountain Dew Baja Blast and more Nickelodeon game show slime from the ’90s. Immediately, its ultra bright, dark green color will turn off most people who prefer real, natural tastes and do not want to consume a ton of food coloring. The flavors themselves aren’t as terrible as you would expect just from looking at it. Too sweet, blue raspberry and lime come together for a refreshing, but otherwise, combination. While not as bad as the peach flavor, we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who actually wants to enjoy their caffeine delivery drink. If it looks this unappetizing, don’t try to force it, choose something else from the menu.
Caramelizer
Most chain coffee shops have caramel mocha drink available. One of those more or less standard offerings of coffee which is not too different for everybody who prefers a little bit sweeter coffee. However, when it comes to the Caramelizer from Dutch Bros, the sweetness has reached a point where it’s gone too far. The first thing you’ll notice is how rich and delicious the mocha tastes in its favor. Unfortunately, that is quickly drowned out by a shocking amount of sugar (or at least, that’s the way it tastes).
We’ll confess that this may be a nifty choice for those into very, very sweet beverages but oh hell, there is simply no amount of sugar I can think of that could justify the act of drinking this. If you order it for yourself, you can consider it as more of a dessert than a coffee. If you have that kind of mindset, you might be able to take the pleasure of it. As for us? Our teeth will be saved and we’ll just pick one of the more appealing items on the menu.
Double Rainbro Dutch Bros Rebel Energy Drink
We are disappointed to crush the Dutch Bros Rebel energy drinks so hard. Most of you will probably admit that most of the energy drinks out there are a little on the nasty side (and not so good for you, for that matter), so this is not a jab at Dutch Bros in particular. Unfortunately, though, we didn’t like Double Rainbro Dutch Bros Rebel Energy Drink any better than the others we’ve already mentioned. Maybe that’s because it hasn’t changed much since that same peach flavoring we can’t have for the artificial taste it has. This drink goes beyond and mixes the peach flavoring with strawberry and coconut as well. Of course, that just makes more of it overwhelming sweet.
When you combine all these flavors, there is no way you can even consciously be able to tell what flavor is what. It kind of just … all but blends into one highly sweet and sort of fruity type flavor. This is exactly the type of drink a lover of ultra sweet, extra fruity drinks will love if they are interested in their morning caffeine. But for us? Not the ideal drink.
Green Apple Smoothie
Of course, you may want to begin your day off with a coffee every day, but some days you want something lighter and fresher. It’s possible, you know, you just want to get off the caffeine or you’re in the process of going somewhere for yoga or you are just feeling in general more healthy while you do your downward dog or your mountain pose. If you are feeling that way ordering a smoothie may be just the best thing to do. There are a few smoothies on the Dutch Bros menu that you could have a hard time choosing the one you want to get. But we can tell you which green apple smoothie you do not want to order at all — that one.
Green apple smoothies are not a good flavor or texture in a smoothie, which is why you don’t see them. We wanted this one to be quite tart, but this version wasn’t quite as tart as we were looking for and it’s not really what we would say is refreshing. However, if you are looking for something brighter and lighter, we would recommend you to look at other smoothie options on the menu.
Tropical Tea
We aren’t down with artificial coloring in so many of Dutch Bros drinks but we don’t seem to know why they choose to do what appears to be artificial coloring. That is the reason why the Tropical Tea didn’t end up any higher on our list. Its name is good, but the reality of this drink is far from good. This is one bright aqua colour and makes you want to send it back right away. Who grown up wants to drink something so brightly colored, that clearly has all sorts of artificial dyes?
Neither does the flavor combo make it much better. The flavors in this drink include passion fruit, coconut and blue raspberry. This drink is also way too sweet as you might expect. Although it isn’t as strongly flavored as the energy drinks, it’s mixed with tea. Overall though, it’s not the worst thing on the menu, but since there are lots of other teas, we probably wouldn’t bother with this one at all.
Americano
The classics have to be worked with on occasion. It makes no difference that you are not brewing coffee at home and going out to a coffee shop if you don’t want something over the top. If you’re only looking for a simple cut of coffee, you’ll likely order the Americano. The Americano is obviously a great choice, it’s so simple. You can order your coffee black or you can have it as the Keto Americano, with heavy whipping cream.
The coffee itself is pretty good but, as basic as it is, we can’t rate this drink any higher. The Americano is like that, once you’ve had one you’ve very probably had them all, unless you come across an especially poor or extraordinary devotion of beans. If that’s what you want enjoy and get a cup. If, however, you are heading Dutch Bros, may as well go with something a lttle bit more interesting.
Dutch Cocoa
The Dutch cocoa is a good choice on the Dutch Bros menu no matter if you are with a little one or you just know you can’t have any more caffeine for the day. Basically the brand’s chocolate milk was steamed up a bit and pumped up with a particular flavoring. We will admit, most of these flavors actually do taste very similar and are quite similar to one another so whichever flavor you pick, it will likely taste very pretty much like the others.
There are enough flavours of Dutch cocoa to come in around 30 flavours, with flavours beginning with regular chocolate milk or white chocolate milk with flavours added. Some combine the two types of chocolate. Although not a sugary concoction, this drink does hit the right spot of sweet and perfect for warming you up on a chilly day. However, this is basically just hot chocolate and so it genuinely isn’t anything special. However, if you want something that has basic appeal, then this drink just makes sense. Plus, no caffeine will make your anxiety spike. Order it the next time you want to warm you up and not much else.
Kicker
It is a happy thing when you can get something simple at a coffee shop that is still different. Nevertheless, not everything has to be on the vasty stage; you know. The kicker is an Irish cream breve that’s what’s appealing about it. What is a breve, anyway, I wondered? In essence, it’s an American latte.
In fact, instead of using milk, it uses half-and-half. The creamier texture and taste does give it a richer flavor and comes back for more. This one is a good menu option and when you throw in the Irish cream, it’s obvious why.Admitting that it isn’t the most creative item on the menu is also not the most exciting. The drink itself is fairly basic, but there is a unique spin on it that makes it worth trying on at least once. While we are not the most enthusiastic about our favorite coffee drink location on the menu, we know, it’s a safe bet when you don’t know what else to order at Dutch Bros. Our verdict? It’s definitely worth a try.
Double Torture
It is a happy thing when you can get something simple at a coffee shop that is still different. After all, not everything has to be taken up to the ceilings. The kicker is an Irish cream breve that’s what’s appealing about it. Anyway, wondering what is a breve?
In essence, it’s an American latte. In fact, instead of using milk, it uses half-and-half. The reward is a thicker, richer, creamier texture and flavor that you will keep looking for. This one is a good menu option and when you throw in the Irish cream, it’s obvious why.It is not the most creative thing on the menu, nor the most exciting.
There’s nothing particularly special about it, but because it is a bit of a basic drink, it does have a twist that is worth at least checking out once. While not the coffee drink of our choice on the menu, it’s a safe bet if you don’t know what to order when you go to Dutch Bros. Our verdict? It’s definitely worth a try.
