Since Easter in 2025 comes a little bit later on the calendar, it also means that Fat Tuesday does as well. Fat Tuesday and Paczkis are in fact not far away, so don’t worry. March 3rd, by the way…

I’m not talking about any jelly donut (even though there is a difference). On Fat Tuesday, it is eaten as a delicious pastry. Catholics begin the season of Lent with Fat Tuesday, or Paczki Day. Many Catholics go through the 40 days of Lent and fast and/or abstain from foods or activities such as ‘giving up drinking’ or ‘giving up sweets’. Before Lent starts, they dip into this jelly or custard filled fried dough as a last treat.

Where to Find the Best Paczki in Lansing

Pie is what Sweetie-licious is known for. Not only are they delicious, over 50 different flavors of ice cream, not to mention the various combinations with different flavors, as well. Flour Child brings some fun and interesting treats such as their Butterbeer bagels, s’mores scones, hazelnut croissants and much more. And the customer service for sure is amazing too! The MorningLory Cafe & Bakery can cater to almost everyone. They have that, if you want homemade pies, donuts, bread, etc. They talk the talk and they walk the walk, you can definitely order savoury or sweet food and it is going to be fresh and homemade. They are located at 115 N Bridge St in Dimondale.

All the time is Quality dairy time. Last time I went I could not go wrong with fresh donuts they serve up every day. The awesome thing about Quality Dairy is that you’ll never be far from fresh donuts because there are dozens of locations all over the greater Lansing area.

A favorite for yummy baked goods is another one: Blue Owl Coffee. The name might fool you, but Yes is about to serve up delicious coffee drinks, but they also serve up muffins, scones, cookies, etc. Even they have a nice looking deli sandwich and wrap menu. The three locations are located anywhere from REO Town (pictured above is the REO Town location), 213 Ann Street in East Lansing, and 1236 Turner Road in Old Town.

Grand Traverse Pie Company is, however, a chain, yes—but that doesn’t make their pies any less delicious. Sweet and savory pies and yummy lunch options are to be found at Grand Traverse slices. And they have three locations in Greater Lansing at 1403 E Grand River, East Lansing; 3536 Meridian Crossing Drive, Okemos, and 200 S Washington Square, Downtown Lansing.
